Katrina Kaif is a British actress who works in Hindi-language films. One of the highest-paid actresses in India, she has received accolades, including four Screen Awards and four Zee Cine Awards, in addition to three Filmfare nominations.
In the media, Kaif frequently features in listings of India’s most popular and attractive celebrities. She participates in stage shows and is involved with her mother’s charity Relief Projects India, which works to help underprivileged children.
Kaif married actor Vicky Kaushal on 9 December 2021 at Six Senses Resort, Fort Barwara in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan. Their wedding was the subject of wide media coverage in India.
Her father, Mohammed Kaif, is a British businessman of Kashmiri descent and her mother (Suzanne, also spelt Susanna) is an English lawyer and charity worker. Kaif’s parents divorced when she was a child, and her father moved to the United States. She said her father had no influence on her or her siblings while they were growing up, and that they were raised by their mother. In a 2009 interview with The Indian Express, she said she was not in touch with her father.
As per reports Katrina never went to school because of her constant travelling. A home tutor was hired to teach. According to reports, Katrina Kaif started her career as a model at the age of 14. After a few years, she came to India and continued her modeling career.
Katrina Kaif is made her film debut in the 2003 heist film Boom, a box office bomb. She then played the titular princess in the Telugu film Malliswari (2004). Kaif had her first success in Bollywood when she appeared opposite Salman Khan in David Dhawan’s romantic comedy Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?

In 2012, Kaif played the role of a Pakistani spy in Ek Tha Tiger, which became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year.
The same year, she starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, a romance by Yash Chopra.
Kaif played a brief role in the 2013 action film Dhoom 3. With a worldwide revenue of ₹5.42 billion (US$71 million), Dhoom 3 went on to become the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time at the time of its release. Kaif played Hrithik Roshan’s love interest in the 2014 action comedy Bang Bang!, which was followed by several commercially failed films in the next three years.
Her first success in these years came with the sequel Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), which earned over ₹5.54 billion (US$73 million). In 2018, Kaif featured in two most expensive Indian films of all time—the action adventure Thugs of Hindostan and the romantic comedy Zero, both of which were commercial failures. However, her performance in the latter was critically praised, earning Kaif the award for the Zee Cine Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role – Female and a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her next releases, the period drama Bharat (2019) and the action film Sooryavanshi, were both commercially successful.
In 2019, Kaif launched her cosmetic brand Kay Beauty, selling products like nail paints, lip and face highlighters, eye shadows, and foundations. Speaking to Cosmopolitan, she said her brand aims to defy society’s exclusive beauty standards and promote inclusivity and comfort in one’s skin. Kaif is a celebrity spokesperson for a number of brands including Slice, Nakshatra, Lux, Panasonic, Lakmé and L’Oréal. The Economic Times ranked Kaif India’s second most prominent endorser in 2012. Hindustan Times reported in 2014 that she received ₹50 million (US$660,000) to ₹60 million (US$790,000) for each endorsement, making her one of India’s highest-paid celebrity endorsers. Kaif was included on Forbes’ list of India’s best-known entertainers from 2012 to 2019 peaking at the ninth position in 2013 with an estimated annual income of ₹652 million (US$8.6 million). According to a 2021 Forbes India estimate, her net worth is ₹2 billion (US$26 million). As of 2021, she is the tenth most-followed Bollywood celebrity on Instagram.
